Symbols

Symbols provide easy access to professionally designed icons that are useful in many situations. Symbols are simple, yet beautiful. They can quickly become your go-to option for here and now access to professional graphics that just work.

Getting ready

Symbols range in look from cool or cute to professional and clean, so begin by checking out the various styles. Decide which style best fits your purpose.

Tip

Choosing the same style for all your symbols in a Prezi will help you obtain a uniform style for your Prezi.

How to do it…

  1. Go to the Insert menu.
  2. Choose Symbols & Shapes.
  3. Click on the Styles category that you want for your symbol.
  4. Click on the symbol that you want to use.
  5. Grab it and drag it onto the canvas.
  6. Drop the symbol where you want it.

Prezi offers quick access to symbols and shapes in various styles as shown in the following screenshot:

How it works…

Once the symbol is placed on the canvas, select it to adjust its placement, size, and angle.

It is not possible to change the coloring of a symbol.

If you decide that you do not want it after all, just click to select the symbol and hit Delete on your keyboard or on the toolbar on top of the selected item, as shown in the following screenshot:

There's more…

Inserting a lot of symbols (or shapes) will sometimes make your Prezi heavy, in the sense that it takes more time to update, does not run smoothly in present mode, and may eventually crash. These are unwanted effects of inserting too many symbols or shapes. The only way to avoid this is to remove some of the symbols or shapes, until your Prezi responds normally to your updates and commands.

There is no set number for how many symbols (or shapes) you can safely insert in a Prezi. This all depends on how much other stuff you have on the canvas.

Tip

If you have multiple symbols (or shapes) in your Prezi, be aware that they may cause your Prezi to look too cluttered and unprofessional.
